JOURNEY

"That's the best thing about walking, the journey itself. It doesn't matter much whether you get where you're going or not. You'll get there anyway. Every good hike brings you eventually back home."

The North Yungas Road (also known as the El Camino de la Muerte, ‘Road of Death’ in Spanish) is a 43 mile road connecting La Paz and Coroico, 35 miles

This is No 6 of the most dangerous roads in the world

My most dangerous drive? Kathmandu to Jiri on the way to Everest base camp....bus with balding tyres , speedy bus driver, one wheel hugging onto the edge of a road precipicing down to a deep river gorge.

At one stage we stopped on a blind corner, everyone got out, and we wandered and wondered out and looked over the edge and saw the remains of a bus down in the gorge. It had crashed the week before.

One Swedish guy wouldn't get back inside and climbed onto the top with the luggage. He reckoned he would jump off it it went over the edge. He almost froze to death on the top which would have been an alternative to being blown off the top by the rally bus driver...no offence meant to the locals which was just a way of life for them but quite a emotional roller coaster for this traveller...
